The Autumn Round

Five weeks of locally grown flowers delivered at the height of dahlia season.

The Autumn Round is five weekly bouquets from the garden, delivered every Thursday from September 3 through October 1.

Each bouquet is designed from whatever is blooming beautifully that week, so the season unfolds a little differently with every delivery. Expect dahlias, sunflowers, strawflower, amaranth, and the changing colors of the garden as summer gives way to fall.

Along with your flowers, you'll become part of The Stem Society, Artelia's seasonal bouquet club. Throughout the round, I'll send along little pieces of the garden too: seeds grown here on the farm, flower history and lore, seasonal gardening tips, and notes about what's happening in the cutting garden.

Think of it as a little seasonal correspondence from the garden, with flowers arriving every Thursday.

Early September is when the garden feels especially generous. Dahlias hit their stride and seem to multiply overnight. Sunflowers tower overhead. Amaranth spills out in long tassels, and the palette begins shifting toward rust, plum, gold, burgundy, and faded peach.

There is still plenty to gather, but you can feel the season beginning to turn. The mornings cool down. The light changes. Sunset arrives a little earlier each week. The bouquets tend to carry that feeling too, full and dramatic with a little more mood than the bright peak of summer.

This round is a celebration of the last big stretch of the garden before frost takes it back. Big dahlias, unexpected textures, and the particular beauty of a season beginning to turn.
